Territory

The very small boutique cellar is a jewel of industrial architecture and oenological history, born from a refined conservative restoration of an old Apulian factory from the 1950s that produces only one cru of excellence of a wine that has written the history of Salento, the Salento willow. Cantina Moros contains the history of Salento and Guagnano, the epicenter of the DOP Salice Salentino: already among the historic cooperative cellars of the "Terre del Negroamaro", it stands near the railway station, once a position necessary to ship the large tanks of wine to reinvigorate the productions of other areas. The restoration works completed in 2012, have given new beauty and a new function to the production environments, such as the concrete fermenters and the old underground tanks that have become meeting rooms and cellars, places where art and wine interact daily. The name celebrates the god Moros guardian of the threads of destiny.

Land and Vineyards

The first vintage of Moros, the precious 2012 vintage – now a collector's label, immediately conquered the great American pens and the palate of the greatest international wine judges: Robert Parker in his The Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator awarded a prestigious 90 /100 at its debut on the international market in 2015. It was born in Salento, from Negroamaro saplings and very few Malvasia nera vines, according to the ancient Salento tradition, in an old vineyard of just over one hectare, recovered and saved from abandonment, on the characteristic clayey and dark soil. The harvest is strictly manual and the yield is very low to achieve the highest quality. The grapes are processed in the small modern cellar and the wine is transferred by gravity down to the underground cellar, which houses the French oak barriques where the Moros ages for 12 months.

Winery

Headquarters of Claudio Quarta Vignaiolo, it is a small contemporary art gallery: between the wooden barrels, the desks, the production spaces, paintings of considerable value alternate with the magnificent mural "Germinazioni3" created by the master Ercole Pignatelli, the great protagonist of Italian and European figurative culture since the 1960s; while the underground cellar houses the precious finds of the history of wine in the "Museum of the Symposium". Visitors to the cellar are accompanied on a unique journey through wine and the artistic and architectural beauty that has redesigned workplaces. Periodically it hosts photographic and pictorial exhibitions of emerging artists, tastings sometimes associated with impromptu dance and theater performances. Because Moros is a unique place, where you can breathe the special bond between art and wine.
