Territory

Perched on top of a hill, it takes its name from the San Paolo di Tufo district and overlooks Torrioni, a small village of ancient agricultural traditions completely immersed in the greenery of vines and woods.

A cellar literally straddling the two provinces of Avellino and Benevento, designed on three levels dug into the slope of the hill to be completely integrated with the wonderful Irpinia landscape.

From its terrace you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Sabato Valley: a succession of vineyards where the white berried grapes from which Greco di Tufo Docg is produced, which together with Fiano di Avellino Docg and the precious Aglianico from which it is born the Taurasi Docg, constitute the essence of enological Irpinia.

Land and Vineyards

The area is characterized by an extraordinary variety of soils: from clayey to calcareous to sandy with influences from the ashes of the Somma Vesuvius volcano. The vineyards are cultivated up to 700 meters above sea level, where a strong temperature range enhances the aroma of the grapes. The vineyard is made up of small plots selected, due to the parcelling out of the hilly area, partly owned and partly jointly managed with local growers who share the production choices and quality objectives of the cellar.

Winery

Cantina Sanpaolo is perfectly sustainable thanks also to a photovoltaic system, which makes it energetically autonomous, and to the thermal insulation which minimizes energy consumption. It is modernly equipped with small and medium-sized fully insulated tanks that allow for the separate vinification of each plot. In the thermal fruit cellar, the drying of the selected grapes for dessert wines is completed. The beautiful barrique cellar houses precious barrels of different carats: barriques, tonneau and barrels, all in French oak.

Experiences

Our wineries have been designed to welcome true enthusiasts. In fact, we believe that wine should be known in its essence, visiting the places where it was born and through the story of our history and our territories.
