Territory
The name is inspired by the Greek goddess Hemera who symbolizes the light of the day, a tribute to the culture of Magna Graecia but also to the geographical position of Salento, the easternmost part of Italy which is the first to witness the sunrise. Tenute Eméra is the largest of the Claudio Quarta Vignaiolo wineries, with its 80 hectares of property, of which 50 are vineyards: a large vineyard close to the Ionian Sea, in the heart of the Primitivo di Manduria DOP in Lizzano, in Puglia.
Immersed in the vineyards, the ancient Casino Nitti-Quarta, which belonged to the President of the Council of the Kingdom of Italy Francesco Saverio Nitti (1919-20), preserves traces of local viticultural history, such as the cellar and the ancient millstones. Today they are used to relive the emotion of the traditional pressing of the grapes with the feet during the "Lu Capucanali" festival.

Land and Vineyards
In addition to the native varieties, Primitivo, Negroamaro and Fiano di Puglia, international vines such as Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay have been planted, following a rigorous scheme, the result of the scientific study of microzoning, which preceded the planting of the plants. The soil of the land, a carbonate bench of maritime origin resulting from the emergence of the lands in the Pleistocene, and rich in fossils and minerals, has been classified into eleven pedological categories, each of which has been associated with as many vines.
In 2009, a collection of vine biodiversity was planted, considered the largest in the world for Mediterranean varieties with 500 minor vines, a project launched in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Milan.

Winery
The underground cellar is thermally insulated, with a large roof garden that optimizes the visual impact and has the purpose of recovering rainwater and irrigation, previously extracted from the groundwater well, then purified on its own and used for cellar operations . A phytodepuration system with papyri cleans them by restoring the PH before being reintroduced into the environment.
A sinuous path among Mediterranean aromatic herbs, a vegetable garden and a sapling Primitivo vineyard connects the cellar to the ancient Masseria, now restored respecting the traditional shapes, colors and materials, which welcomes wine tourists in its large courtyard or inside the old stable.

Experiences
Our wineries have been designed to welcome true enthusiasts. In fact, we believe that wine should be known
in its essence, visiting the places where it was born and through the story of our history and our territories.
Wines
The essence of the territory is what each of the three Claudio Quarta Vignaiolo wineries expresses, where the great wines of the South are produced that excite.
